Vortex CompactPCI is an Open Data Recording platform which is optimized for high performance data buffering and flexible data flows between I/O ports in a CompactPCI system. I/O ports are provided through front panel connectors and CompactPCI J1, J3 and J5 backplane connectors. Additional features are available on a RTM (Rear Transmission Module) board, which is connected through J3 and J5 backplane connectors.
The Vortex CompactPCI is controlled via a web-browser GUI or through a customer application by running XML-RPC. Real-time Operating system support for VxWorks and Linux (TimeSys).
Vortex CompactPCI connects to storage devices or the Fibre Channel Storage Area Network via the 2 x 2Gb/s Optical Fibre Channel onboard. To speed up readback of the recorded data, a dedicated Fibre Channel link can be used directly between a workstation and a disk storage system using VMETRO's SAN Access Kit.
