The Vortex family of real-time data recorder, playback and analysis systems for analog and digital applications offer sustained recording at rates up to 800 MB/s. These high-speed recorders achieve the performance rating in both commercial and ruggedized environments utilizing Fibre Channel storage area network media in JBOD or RAID configurations from cost effective commercial to rugged and solid-state storage. Available as targeted recorders or open custom recorders, the Vortex family easily integrates into any VXS (VITA-41), VME, CompactPCI or PC based system.

Vortex Data Recorders are a family of hardware and software products that focus on the task of high-speed streaming, data recording, playback, and analysis. With 4th generation hardware and over 20 man-years of software, Vortex is the most powerful, flexible, scalable, yet easy-to-use recording capability available today. The Vortex products are controlled via a web-based GUI or through a customer application by using XML-RPC. To speed up access to recorded data, a dedicated Fibre Channel link can be used directly between a workstation and the disk storage system, using VMETRO’s SAN Access Kit. Vortex Recorders are ideally suited for application in digital signal analysis environments such as Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) applications including Electronic Intelligence (ELINT), COMINT, SIGINT, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Moving Target Indicators (MTI), Software Defined Radio (SDR) as well as medical scanners and industrial inspection systems.

Available as open or targeted recorders, the Vortex Data Recording Engines provide the highest possible streaming data throughput from I/O interface to storage system. Open Recorders enable users to utilize extensive software libraries to develop their own applications. Targeted Recorders are standard pre-programmed recording and playback products for standard IO interfaces or application targeted pre-programmed solutions to address specific requirements.
