Vortex VME is an Open Data Recording platform which is optimized for high performance data buffering and flexible data flows between I/O ports in a VME system. I/O ports are provided through front panel connectors for dual 2Gbps Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet as well as VME P2 a/c row and P0 rear connectors. I/O can also be performed via the optional RACE++ interface. Each PMC site operates on an independent 133MHz PCI/PCI-X bus segment allowing mix and match of PMCs of different clock frequencies without degrading performance.
Ruggedized and extended temperature versions are available. The Vortex VME is controlled via a web-browser GUI or through a customer application by running XML-RPC. Real-time Operating system support for VxWorks and Linux.
Vortex VME connects to storage devices or the Fibre Channel Storage Area Network via the 2 x 2Gb/s Optical Fibre Channel onboard. To speed up readback of the recorded data, a dedicated Fibre Channel link can be used directly between a workstation and a disk storage system using VMETRO's SAN Access Kit.
