Digital signal analysis applications such as RADAR, SIGINT, ELINT, COMINT, SAR, MTI, and SDR systems typically require a means of recording high-speed sensor data. These systems may require acquisition of a single channel of GHz range data or multiple channels of lower frequency data. To test algorithms, identify digital signatures, analyze the spectrum of signal ranges or perform post-processing analysis, Research & Development Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) systems can use COTS recorders such as VMETRO's Vortex Ultra Wideband Recorder. The Vortex Ultra Wideband Recording System incorporates the speed, flexibility and scalability required for these high-performance applications. The Vortex Data Recorder is capable of acquiring up to 1 GHz analog bandwidth data in all full scale ranges and records the dual channels of 8-bit 1 GHz ADC data at rates up to 2 Giga Samples per second (GS/s). The UWB Recorder includes all the components needed for integration into an RDT&E system: a Single Board Computer, 2 GS/s digitizer, storage devices, high-speed Serial FPDP Interfaces, data recording engines, software, cables and enclosures. The front-end of the digitizer can have dual or single-channel 8-bit BNC 50 Ohm analog interface and samples an analog bandwidth of up to 1 GHz. The UWB Recorder uses a web-based GUI to simplify control of the entire system. The GUI is hosted on the SBC and enables the control and configuration of the entire system from an user-friendly web interface. The system is modular and easily scales to achieve the desired bandwidth up to 2 GS/s! VMETRO application engineers can customize this recording system to fit specific applications.
Applications currently utilizing the Vortex Ultra Wideband Data Recorder include Raytheon and NAWC programs.
