The VMETRO FPDP mezzanine for VMETRO boards featuring Xilinx Virtex-II FPGAs allows customers to easily set up FPDP communcations between boards in a VME or cPCI system.
The FPDP specification defines 2 programmable IO signals named PIO1 and PIO2. The FPDP module supports independent control on these 2 signals as inputs or as outputs.
Firmware
The software supplied with VMETRO boards includes the FPGA firmware (hex file) for customers requiring an off the shelf FPDP solution which allows the FPGA to act as an FPDP Transmitter, Receiver, or Receive Master, including example programs for the host. It also includes the VHDL source and a testbench and is the ideal starting point for customers wishing to implement there own VHDL, whether FPDP related or not.
